CCC TESTER CERTIFICATION

Tester Certification

CCC Certification Status

In accordance with the Cross Connection Management Program advocated by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), recertification of backflow prevention device testers is required every 5 years. Testers must take recertification training every five years prior to their certificate expiry date to meet the program requirements.

Schools are now teaching in class. Testers whose certification expired during the Covid lock down are expected to take the next available recertification course.

CCC Licensing

Licensing of testers is managed by the Authority Holding Jurisdiction (AHJ). If your certificate is expiring during this time, please contact your AHJ or licensing authority for direction.

Certified testers are provided with the theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on skills to test backflow prevention assemblies. Having this certification provides testers with the credentials required to test backflow prevention devices within various jurisdictions in Atlantic Canada with a recognized Cross Connection Control (CCC) program.

Tester Certification FAQs

Q: When do I need to take the full Cross Connection Control (CCC) Tester Certification Course?

A: You are required to take the full CCC Tester Certification Course if you:

Q: When will I need to recertify?

Q: Why do I have to recertify?

A: All Canadian jurisdictions subscribe to a national CCC Program which follows the AWWA Canadian CCC Manual. The manual mandates that all CCC testers recertify every five (5) years to ensure that they are kept up-to-date on all the latest standards, code issues and procedures of the CCC Program. CCC testers serve an integral role in protecting our drinking water systems from any forms of contamination.
