The AWWA American Water Works Association has available scholarships for graduate-level students. The newest scholarship is the James K. Edzwald Scholarship.
James K. Edzwald Scholarship
This award was established in 2023 in honor of Dr. James K. Edzwald to recognize an outstanding graduate student pursuing research on documenting climate change effects on water quality and treatment and/or resilient treatment methods pertaining to supplies with algae, Cyanobacteria, natural organic matter, and/or contaminants of emerging concern to the drinking water industry. The scholarship will provide $3000 with preference to a graduate student whose application emphasizes career goals of serving the water field.
For this scholarship, you will be asked to provide:
- 2-page resume
- 1-page statement on career goals in serving the water field.
- 3 to 5-page research proposal
- 1-page summarizing completed and proposed graduate coursework
- Most recent transcript(s) (unofficial transcript(s) are accepted)
- 2 letters of recommendation: (NEW: you will only be asked to provide letters of recommendation if you are a finalist. You are not required to submit letters at the time you submit your application, and will be contacted for letters of recommendation if you are a finalist).
Applicants who exceed the specified page limits or submit more than the specified required items will be automatically disqualified. There are no specific formatting requirements (i.e., margins, single vs double spaced, etc.). Please review your documents for spelling and grammatical errors before uploading. Applicants should upload their own letters of recommendation which will be verified by AWWA staff for authenticity.
