Blue Green Algae (Cyanobacteria) and their toxins in Atlantic Canada's Recreational Water
Attiq Rehman (Research and Productivity Council (RPC))

Harmful algal blooms HAB and their increasing occurrence poses a serious threat to public health, domestic animals, and livestock in New Brunswick as well as in lakes across the Atlantic provinces. With financial support from Environment Trust Funds ETF, Research and Productivity Council RPC bioscience department has developed rapid methods for the detection and quantification of toxigenic algae and their toxins. To the best of our knowledge, RPC is the only lab in the Atlantic Canada offering this service.

RPC scientist Corrie Maston will be presenting this work at ACWWA conference.
